Steps to Determining Your Correct Dry Suit Size

Items you will need:

  • A soft tailors tape measure (Can be found in most stores sewing section) at least 100 inches long.
  • A paper and pen to note your measurements.
  • An assistant to help you determine your proper measurements.
    • IMPORTANT: YOU CANNOT TAKE ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS BY YOURSELF
  • 4. Honesty about your sizing, a Dry Suit is a significant investment and for it to be safe, comfortable, and enjoyable to use it has to fit correctly.

How to Determine Your Size:

  • Take and record all of the measurements with the provided measuring directions (even if you think you will be a stock size).
  • Compare each of your measurements to the associated measurements on the provided size chart.
    • All measurements on the size chart (except Height) are in inches.
    • For it to be a stock fit all measurements should fall in the range for each of the individual measurements provided on the size chart.

 

For Example: A person fitting a stock Large-Short Suit would have the following personal measurements

  • Height: Between 5’8” ( 68”) and 5’10” (70”)
  • Chest: Between 43 – 45 inches across the nipple line.
  • Hips: Between 45-47 inches across the navel or the widest point.
  • Inseam: 29 Inches (Critical to measure correctly, (DO NOT USE YOUR PANTS INSEAM MEASUREMENT)
  • Torso: 68 Inches (Again, critical this is measured correctly)
  • Sleeve Length: 32 (Again, critical this is measured correctly)
    • What if a few measurements are slightly smaller or larger than the range.
    • Semi-custom alterations can be made to any measurement, this is called a made to measure suit. As a rule the following guidelines for made to measure suits apply:
  • Semi Custom
  • Each alteration to the pattern will incur (a size change up or down) will incur one Semi custom alteration charge.
    • a. Alterations to the sleeve length or inseam alone, or both the sleeve length and inseam on the same suit will count as one alteration.
  • Measurements can be added to or subtracted from up to a total of 4 inches up or down. Larger alterations needed may indicate a need for a different size altogether, or a full custom fit.
  • Suits 2XL and above are considered Semi Custom and will automatically incur one Semi custom surcharge.
  • Suits can be made with differing top and bottom sizes to fit some body types and shapes and still be considered made to measure.
    • If you think you would benefit by a Semi custom fit, or Custom fit, it is strongly suggested you provide your complete set of measurements to one of our sales agents and allow them to counsel you on the most appropriate size prior to ordering.
